SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WTHR) - Spencer Pigot got out of his car under his own power after a hard crash during practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Pigot made contact with the SAFER barrier in Turn 2 with about 90 minutes to go in Friday's practice session. After his car came to a stop along the backstretch, Pigot climbed from the car on his own.

He was later checked and cleared from the infield medical center.

Pigot had turned the 31st fastest lap on the day, reaching 226.170 MPH on a day where the top speed exceeded 233 MPH.

Later Friday, Zach Veach crashed hard coming out of Turn 1. Once his car came to rest at the exit of Turn 2, Veach also was able to get out of his car under his own power.
