Peyton Manning visits Indianapolis for St. Vincent gala
Peyton Manning is back in town. The former Colts quarterback attended a private event to support 36 local children who make up Team Peyton All-Stars and True Hero Ambassadors. The two programs support Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St.Vincent.
Team Peyton All Stars is a school fundraising program created to inspire kids to become philanthropists and leaders in their communities. The program began in the fall of 2012 and collected $50,000 for Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent during its inaugural year.
Former and existing patients at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital also attended the private event. They serve as True Hero Ambassadors for St. Vincent by sharing their personal health journeys to raise awareness about childhood illnesses, and provide inspiration to others.
Each child got a certificate of appreciation from Manning.
"You have empowered others to make a difference by making a difference yourself," said Peyton Manning during the closed event at Marten House Hotel. "For that I just want to say thank you."
Peyton and Ashley Manning will serve as honorary chairpersons at the St. Vincent Celebration of Caring Gala Saturday. Luke Bryan, American Country Music Awards' 2013 Entertainer of the Year, will perform at the children's hospital fundraising event.
