Parents don't know whether daughter knew gunman

The parents of a 20-year-old woman fatally shot while working in a northern Indiana grocery store don't know whether she knew the gunman.

Juanita Whitacre of Bristol and Shaun Dikes of Shipshewana say their daughter Krystle Dikes of Elkhart had a lot of friends and they don't know whether she knew 22-year-old Shawn Walter Bair of Elkhart. Bair shot and killed Dike Wednesday night while she stocking shelves at a Martin's Super Market. He also killed 44-year-old shopper Rachelle Godfread before being fatally shot by police.

Dikes' parents described her at a news conference Saturday as a big-hearted, independent woman with a contagious laugh who dreamed of opening a child care center for children with special needs. They say they have been overwhelmed by the support from the community.
