Pacers inviting fans to an NBA Draft Party

Pacers President Larry Bird says he has four players in mind.

It's a big day for the NBA and the Indiana Pacers. The 2011 draft begins tonight, and you're invited to watch the selection process.

After last year's first trip to the NBA playoffs in five years, the Indiana Pacers are making a big deal of this year's draft.

The team, fans and perhaps even the city are looking for players who can put the Pacers back in contention and back in the spotlight. When the team began winning at the end of the season, attendance, which had slipping for much of the season, picked up.

Pacer's President Larry Bird isn't saying who he's after but with the 15th and 42nd draft pick, he's optimistic, if not certain, he will get the players he wants.

"We are going to get a good player," said Bird. "There are four guys I really like and two of them are going to get to us.  So I will talk about it and get the best player.  We need a lot of help in a lot of areas.  I want to get a player who can help right away. Even though he's a rookie he will have an opportunity to help us."

Fans are invited to Conseco Fieldhouse for a Pacers draft party. It starts tonight at 7:00 o'clock.
Players Darren Collison, Paul George, Roy Hibbert and Lance Stephenson will be here to meet and greet fans. The Pacemates will be here too. And admission is free.
