Pacers gear up for season opener
The Indiana Pacers are gearing up for the season opener against the Orlando Magic. The teams will face off Tuesday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Pacers fans are already pumped up for this season. Individual ticket sales for the 2013-2014 season are up 50 percent from last year, while season ticket sales are up 30 percent. Online presales also set a record. The Pacers credit the high sales to last season's post-season success, the fact that most of last year's team is back and an increase in 'family fun' events surrounding the games.
The Pacers organization is working to make sure everyone can have access to tickets.
"This year, most of the lower bowl is held by season seat holders. So we really focus on making sure tickets get in the hands of the Pacers fans. We really want to make sure we limit those tickets going to Illinois right from the primary market, it's a challenge to making sure they don't get resold on the secondary market," said Pacers Senior Vice President Todd Taylor.
There are several ticket promotions available, like "Two for Tuesdays." The Pacers also tell Eyewitness News some "surprises" regarding single game tickets are in the works.
While last year's success has fans excited about this season, Pacers Center Roy Hibbert says he's ready to move on to bigger things.
"To tell you the truth, I'm just tired of talking about last year. Last year. It's a different team, a new year and we've got new things to accomplish," said Hibbert.
Tuesday's tip-off is at 7:00 p.m.
