One man dead after east side shooting

Police are investigating a shooting that left an Indianapolis man dead Friday morning near 31st Street and North Gladstone Avenue on the city's east side.

35-year-old Earnest P. Drake III was shot many times and he died at Eskenazi Health.

He was found inside a fence at a friend's home at around 4:30 am.

The weapon was found at the scene.

Police say witnesses have been uncooperative.

Drake, police say, was involved with other police investigations. Police don't believe it was a random shooting, and they say there's a possible narcotics connection.
