One injured in Johnson County crash

A 30-year-old person from Otisco, Indiana was injured after striking a slow-moving semi trailer on I-65 in Johnson County Wednesday morning.

The crash closed the northbound lanes of I-65 at the 85 mile marker for about an hour while a medical helicopter landed and the wreckage was cleared.

It happened at around 8:30 am. Police say a semi tractor-trailer was parked on the emergency shoulder when the driver began to merge onto I-65.

A van driver heading northbound struck the rear of the semi, veered off the highway and into a line of trees. The driver, identified as Shannon Edds, 30, was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter with leg injuries, bruises and abrasions.

The semi driver, Frank Barnes, 42, of Rae Ford, North Carolina, was not injured. He was issued a citation for illegal parking.
