One dead in west Indianapolis shooting
Indianapolis Metro Police have identified a man who died in a shooting on the west side of Indianapolis. The victim was identified as 19-year-old Deshawn Ward.
Police responded to the shooting in the 900 block of N. King Avenue around 7:40 p.m. Sunday. Two people were found, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both men were taken to Eskenazi Hospital. Ward was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other man remains in serious condition.
Police say at least two suspects were seen running from the house where the shooting occurred after the incident. The first suspect was described as a black male, 18-20 years old, standing about 5'8" tall. He was wearing a black beanie cap, a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and was armed with a gun.
The second suspect is also a black male, aged 18-20. That suspect is 6' tall and was wearing a black skull cap, a black hooded sweatshirt and was armed with a gun.
Police believe the motive behind the shooting may have been a residential robbery.
