One dead in Madison County crash
One person was killed in a crash on State Road 37 in Madison County on Thursday.
It happened at around 11:30 am in the 9100 block of northbound SR 37, north of Elwood.
The Madison County Sheriff's Department says a Buick was northbound on SR 37 when the driver crossed the center line and struck a southbound flat bed truck that was towing a vehicle. The truck driver tried to avoid the Buick, but couldn't get out of the vehicle's path. The impact sent the Buick back across the road and the car came to rest off the roadway.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was taken to St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood. The truck driver was not injured.
Sheriff Ron Richardson says the road is closed while the crash investigation continues. Elwood medics and Pipe Creek Fire & Rescue assisted at the scene.
