Officers rescue man from White River in Owen County
Police and conservation officers rescued a man from an Owen County river Wednesday.
Officers say Michael Voskoboynik, 49, was canoeing on the White River with a school group between Gosport and Spencer when he fell from his canoe. Bystanders heard him call for help and called 911.
Owen County Sheriff's Department deputies found Voskoboynik hanging onto a tree branch and were able to get a rope to him from the shore. They pulled him to shore with the help of Indiana State Police troopers at the scene.
Voskoboynik was wearing a life jacket and was not hurt in the incident.
