Off-duty trooper nabs shoplifting suspects
An off-duty state trooper caught a pair of shoplifting suspects while he shopped on the south side of Indianapolis Wednesday.
Trooper Ronneal Williams was walking into the Meijer store on E. Southport Road around noon when he saw a man and a woman leave the store after activating the door alarm. The pair were pushing a grocery cart with a large box inside and were ignoring pleas to stop by a store employee.
Williams chased the suspects in his marked police car until they abandoned the car at the Shell station at 6955 S. Emerson Avenue. The trooper immediately apprehended the female driver. Two other troopers responded and apprehended the male suspect in the 6600 block of Covham Lane.
Police recovered a boom box and a cell phone.
The suspects, 40-year-old Gary Sheese and 25-year-old Alisha Sheese, are being held on charges including resisting law enforcement and theft.
