Obama to Latinos: Last call for health care signup
President Barack Obama is urging uninsured Latinos to sign up for health care through new exchanges before the window closes at the end of March.
Obama is speaking at a virtual town hall hosted by Spanish-language media outlets. It's part of an administration-wide push to boost last-minute enrollment figures that are critical to the success of Obama's health law.
Obama says immigrants in the U.S. illegally aren't eligible, but those here legally are. He's telling Latinos who are here legally but have family members who aren't that they should still sign up. He says they don't have to worry because information collected isn't handed over to immigration services.
California's state-based exchange is also hosting Obama's event. California's program has come under heavy criticism for lackluster efforts to sign up Latinos.
