A house fire on Voight Court, near 34th and High School Road on the northwest side, extensively damaged a home while the residents were apparently out of town.

IFD units were called just after 3:15 a.m. Wednesday and found heavy smoke billowing from the single story wood frame home.

More than an hour later, the fire was under control, but not before the house sustained an estimated $70-thousand in damage.

Investigators are working to determine a cause.

A neighbor said the owners were out of town.  No injuries were reported.
