The man wanted for taking his 9-month-old child from a home on the east side early Saturday morning turned himself in Sunday morning.

IMPD detectives had been searching for 22-year-old DeAndre Averitte since Saturday when he reportedly took Kristian Averitte from a residence in the 3500 block of Star Magnolia Place around 5:30 a.m. using a stolen car.

He was arrested at 3850 DePauw Boulevard and is preliminarily charged with Domestic Battery, Residential Entry, and Auto Theft. Additional charges are possible after the Marion County Prosecutor's Office has reviewed the case.

Nine-month-old Kristian Averitte was located safely on Saturday afternoon when a family friend returned the child to his mother. Kristian was later taken into the custody of Child Protective Services.
