Firefighters from the Noblesville Fire Department were dispatched just before 11 a.m. for the report of a fire in a garage at an apartment complex in the 12000 block of Gallant Fox Drive, near 146th and Marilyn Road.

Firefighters arrived at the Deer Chase Apartments to find heavy fire showing from a garage and spreading to nearby apartment buildings. Fire crews from Fishers Fire Department were also called to the scene to assist with extinguishing the fire.

Residents in the apartment complex tell Eyewitness News that they heard an explosion and saw a car on fire under a carport in front of the apartment building. Fire investigators are still searching for the origin and cause of the fire.

More than 25 units were destroyed and several other buildings in the complex had fire damage. No injuries have been reported. The Red Cross is on the scene and will be assisting residents.

Noblesville fire officials say they had problems fighting the fire because of water shortages at the apartments property. It is privately owned, and fire crews did not have enough water or pressure.

Firefighters had to lay more than 5000 feet of hose to available hydrants, holding up firefighting efforts for about 20 minutes.
