A Noblesville family safely escaped a fire in their home Monday evening.

Firefighters say children in the home in the 1300 block of Monument Street alerted their father to a fire in the kitchen, just after he started making dinner. The father, Dale Porch, told investigators he couldn't get into the kitchen to fight the fire, because it had become too large.

Porch grabbed his two children and escaped the home through the back door. Firefighters got the fire under control in about ten minutes, rescuing the family's dog during the attack.

Damage from the fire is estimated at $70,000 to the home and its contents. There were no injuries reported.
