Five IMPD K-9 officers graduate

The new class of K-9 officers and their human partners graduated from K-9 Unit on Friday and will begin servicing the Indianapolis community this week.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — As many students across central Indiana returned to school this week, five others are graduating.

The new class of K-9 officers and their human partners graduated from K-9 Unit on Friday and will begin servicing the Indianapolis community this week.

Congratulations to the new K9 officers and their partners:

  • Sergeant Anthony McLemore with K9 Nova
  • Officer Molly Groce with K9 Ludwig
  • Officer Trent Fortson with K9 Sigfrid
  • Officer Scott Hartman with K9 Rudolf
  • Officer Ryan Archer with K9 Sonitrol

K-9 officers go through intense training in IMPD's K-9 School that prepares them to protect the safety of Indianapolis residents and minimize danger for their human partners with a wide array of functions, such as tracking, explosives detection and narcotics detection.
