Five IMPD K-9 officers graduate

The new class of K-9 officers and their human partners graduated from K-9 Unit on Friday and will begin servicing the Indianapolis community this week.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — As many students across central Indiana returned to school this week, five others are graduating.

The new class of K-9 officers and their human partners graduated from K-9 Unit on Friday and will begin servicing the Indianapolis community this week.

Sergeant Anthony McLemore with K9 Nova
Officer Molly Groce with K9 Ludwig
Officer Trent Fortson with K9 Sigfrid
Officer Scott Hartman with K9 Rudolf
Officer Ryan Archer with K9 Sonitrol

K-9 officers go through intense training in IMPD's K-9 School that prepares them to protect the safety of Indianapolis residents and minimize danger for their human partners with a wide array of functions, such as tracking, explosives detection and narcotics detection.
