Autopsy report released to Dreasjon Reed family months after police shot and killed him

The decision to release the autopsy came Wednesday morning from the Marion Superior Court.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Coroner's Office released the autopsy report for Dreasjon Reed to his mother. The office said it received the decision to release the autopsy at 10:01 a.m Wednesday from the Marion Superior Court.

Reed's mother and attorneys had planned to hold a news conference calling for the autopsy report to be released. After obtaining the report, the family and attorneys spoke briefly outside the coroner's office.

"You can't do what you did to my son and say it was right," said Demetree Wynn, Reed's mother.

Reed's family and attorneys said they will review the autopsy report and are not releasing the details at this time.

The Marion Superior Court has appointed Rosemary Khoury of Madison County to serve as the special prosecutor in the investigation of the May 6, 2020 shooting of Reed.

IMPD claims Reed was running from police, shot at an officer and the officer returned fire killing Reed. The incident was caught on a Facebook Live Reed was on at the time.

In June, the family of Dreasjon Reed filed a federal lawsuit against Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department for his death. The lawsuit claims excessive force and wrongful death in the case.
