Teenager killed in shooting on Indy's east side

Police said the shooting is one of several they are investigating Monday afternoon.

INDIANAPOLIS — A teenager is dead after a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis.

Police said the shooting happening near Washington and Randolph streets at around 4 p.m. Monday. Officers arrived at the scene to find a 17-year-old male teenager outside who had been shot.

Medics transported the teen to the hospital, where he later died. the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the teen as Ross Mitchell.

According to detectives, the victim was playing curb ball with his younger brother when an unknown male wearing a light hoodie and dark pants walked from the alley and shot at the victim. The suspect was last seen running west from where the shooting happened.
