The NFL's new bag policy was put to the test for the first time Sunday night at the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.

The Colts also passed out some of the new bags to fans at training camp in Anderson.

They measure 12 inches by 12 inches by 6 inches and are made of clear material to reveal contents.

The NFL will no longer allow purses, backpacks, diaper bags, or any other type of large bag through stadium gates. A one-gallon freezer bag is permitted to bring belongings into the stadium.

Very small clutches or wallets the size of your hand are still allowed.

Colts fan Valerie Broeringmeyer told Eyewitness News, "I think it's a good policy. You can't really be too safe these days, and so I think having a clear bag is a really good policy."

WTHR is giving away new NFL bags for free. You can take them with you to next Sunday's Colts preseason game at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The bag giveaway takes place Friday, August 9th at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Meet us at the WTHR tent near the Grandstands Box Office.

The NFL bag giveaway runs from noon until 6:30 p.m. while supplies last.
