Naomi Pescovitz joins WTHR as Weekend Sunrise anchor
WTHR, Channel 13 announced today that Naomi Pescovitz will be joining the station as weekend morning anchor for 13 Eyewitness News Sunrise effective July 9, 2014. Pescovitz will anchor both the Saturday and Sunday editions of the newscast. In addition, she will serve as a 13 Eyewitness News reporter three days a week. In making the announcement news director Kathy Hostetter said, “Naomi is no stranger to Central Indiana and is a perfect fit our team. She grew up in Indiana and went to high school right here in Indianapolis. As an exceptional story-teller and journalist, we’re happy that she has chosen to return home.”
Pescovitz comes to WTHR from KSTP in Minneapolis where she served as reporter and fill-in anchor since August of 2011. Before arriving at KSTP Naomi spent two years as a reporter at KVOA in Tucson, Arizona. While in Tucson she was one of the first reporters on the scene when Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot outside a grocery store. Naomi has also served as a reporter at WIBW in Topeka, Kansas and KULR in Billings, Montana. Naomi said, “My family and I watched Channel 13 while I was growing up and I always wanted to work there. I’m excited that it’s finally happening and I am proud to join such a talented and respected team of journalists.”
Born in Minneapolis, Naomi and her family moved to Indianapolis before her first birthday. She graduated from North Central High School in Indianapolis and went on to earn a double major in Journalism and International Studies from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
13 Eyewitness News Sunrise continues to dominate as Central Indiana’s number one rated morning newscast, according to Nielsen data from the recently concluded May 2014 sweeps period.
