Murder suspect in court for local musician's death
The suspect in the murder of a pizza delivery driver last month went before a judge Tuesday morning.
Shawn Wilson appeared in court on charges of murder and robbery. Police say he killed Daniel Jaffke on January 31st.
Jaffke was shot after delivering a pizza at the Capitol Place apartments. His stolen car was found the next morning not far from the crime scene.
Crime lab workers discovered a small amount of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a weapon inside Wilson's home.
Jaffke's parents made an appeal to find the suspect shortly after his murder.
"He is just a special person. He is a talented musician. He is a hard worker. He worked a job as a machinist and also the part-time job to make ends meet delivering pizzas, which cost him his life and it shouldn't have," his mother said.
"He said, 'Dad, what should I do? I like doing the pizza thing. I enjoy it," Tom Jaffke said. "He was a musician also. He had a God-given gift for music."
