Muncie leaders keeping close eye on power project

Some Delaware County officials say they're worried that a project to develop vehicles to serve as mobile power stations isn't progressing despite pledges of millions in local and state incentives.

South Carolina businessman Gary Dannar announced last year that he expected to employ 20 people in Muncie by the end of 2014 and begin producing his Mobile PowerStation vehicle in the city. The vehicle would offer government and military purchasers a means to power tools and provide "off-grid power" at accident scenes.

Dannar tells The Star Press that the work on the vehicle is occurring in Detroit and South Carolina but says the Muncie component is on track.

Delaware County Council member Ron Quakenbush says he's disappointed that the work is being done outside Muncie.
