A long-standing Thanksgiving tradition is helping those less fortunate in Indianapolis this holiday - the 42nd annual Mozel Sanders Memorial Thanksgiving dinner.

Volunteers started working at 4:00 a.m. to prepare the dinner at Butler University Thursday morning.

The goal is to provide a hot meal to at least 40,000 people in need.

The volunteers say they give up part of their Thanksgiving because it's a family affair.

A big donation from real estate company Flaherty and Collins helped put the Mozel Sanders foundation closer to its annual fundraising goal. But they say they are still about $15,000 short.
