Chipotle promotes COVID-19 vaccination with BOGO deal

Customers who say "friends BOGO" when they purchase an entree get a second for free on the day of the event.

INDIANAPOLIS — Here's today's Consumer Catch-up.

Spam relief

If you're sick of spam calls, take heart. We may be one step closer to stopping them..

The Federal Communications Commission has told carriers to start verifying calls with an anti-spoofing system that ensures the number that shows up on Caller ID is actually the number calling you - not a scammer hiding behind someone else's identity.

T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T all say they've adopted the protocol.

Officials warn we still need watch out for scammers.

Chipotle free food offer

Chipotle will hold a buy one, get one free deal Tuesday as part of an effort to encourage people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Customers who say "friends BOGO" when they pay for one entrée will get a second for free.

The company said the offer will support the White House's initiative to get more Americans vaccinated this summer.

The offer starts at 3:00 p.m. at select locations.

IRS refund delays

Tax returns are backlogged to the tune of 35 million, according to the National Taxpayer Advocate report.

The group said that number has risen from 31 million returns in May.

Some taxpayers recently told 13News that they've been waiting a while for their refunds.

What can you do? Try the Where's My Refund tool, but the IRS said they're doing everything they can and asked for patience.
