A central Indiana woman whose 6-month-old son weighed eight pounds when he was removed from her custody has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Twenty-four-year-old Danielle Shrack of Muncie told a Delaware County judge Monday that all she can think about is how she almost killed her child. She said she was glad that authorities saved her son, who is now in the custody of relatives along with an older sibling.

The Star Press reports that Shrack's defense attorney blamed her actions in part on post-partum depression and abuse she suffered while a child.

Shrack pleaded guilty in September to a felony charge of child neglect. Her 45-year-old husband, William, has pleaded guilty to the same charge and is set to be sentenced in January.
