Missing McCordsville man found safe

Detectives say a McCordsville man who went missing for two days has turned up safe. No details are known about where he was, or his condition.

Police say 46-year-old Dongyue Yu was last seen around 3 p.m. on July 14 at the Happy Hour Foot Spa in the 2400 block of Lake Circle Court, near W. 86th Street and Township Line Road. Yu has a severely diminished mental capacity because of physical abuse endured while he was imprisoned for 17 years in the Republic of China.

The Associated Press reports Yu was jailed for throwing paint on Mao Zedong's portrait that looks out over Tiananmen Square in Beijing during 1989 pro-democracy protests.

Yu has a scar on the left side of his forehead, indicative of abuse. Yu also lacks the ability to communicate verbally and is vulnerable.

Yu lives with his sister in McCordsville. Rixia Yu told police she and her brother don't have any friends or relatives he may have gone to visit in the area. She said he has been missing before.

The U.S. Government helped Yu and his sister get refugee status to enter the country.
