Mike Epps confirmed to star in Richard Pryor biopic

Indianapolis native Mike Epps will play Richard Pryor in an upcoming movie of the comedian's life.

Director Lee Daniels and producer Oprah Winfrey confirmed Epps landed the role in the upcoming biopic, ending years of speculation. The trio appeared in photos posted to both Daniels' and Winfrey's social media accounts on Sunday.



"Just finished a great 1st read session," Winfrey wrote on the photo posted to Instagram.

There are rumors that Winfrey may have a role in the upcoming film.



Epps later posted a photo of his own with Pryor's widow, Jennifer, after getting her blessing to portray the late comedian.

Richard Pryor died of a heart attack in 2005, shortly after his 65th birthday.
