Midweek meltdown, storms possible Thursday
The melting continues across central Indiana and kicks into high gear on Thursday, with highs in the 50s and rain in the forecast. Lowland flooding and river flooding will be issues, due to the snow melt and the potential for heavy rain with a few thunderstorms on Thursday. River flooding will be an issue through next week.
It will be dry this evening, but we are tracking a developing storm system that will bring two waves of rain and storms to central Indiana. The first will arrive after midnight, but before sunrise on Thursday. The second will be a line of rain and wind during the evening hours of Thursday. This wave will be the stronger of the two and contain that threat for damaging winds. There is a slight risk for severe weather.
This system will move out of the area by Thursday night. Friday and most of Saturday will be dry, with highs in the 40s.
We are tracking two chances for light snow. The first will be late Saturday and Sunday. The second will be later Monday into Tuesday. More cold air is in the forecast for next week.
