A Metro police officer was arrested Friday and preliminarily charged with two counts of battery and one count of residential entry.

In a release, an IMPD spokesman says a disturbance was reported late Friday in the 8800 block of Penn Circle. Because the allegation involved a police officer, a Special Investigations Unit (SIU) responded to the scene.

Based on witness statements, observations and detective investigation, officers determined they had probable cause existed to make an arrest of IMPD employee David Reese. Reese was taken into custody without incident.

IMPD is conducting an internal investigation and said Reese be suspended without pay and with no police powers.

IMPD did not release additional information about the alleged incident.
