Mayor Ballard urges parents to use 'school chooser' guide

Parents with school-age children in Indianapolis should check out the 2013-2014 Indianapolis School Chooser Guide, said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard on Tuesday.

The booklet will be available at all Indianapolis Public Library branches and local Kroger stores and available online.

"Indianapolis a leader in education," Ballard said. "There are many great options for parents looking for the right place to send their children. The School Chooser Guide is the best resource available to help them make the right decision."

Published by GreatSchools in partnership with Stand for Children, School Choice Indiana and The Indiana Partnerships Center, the 140-page guide contains information about all schools in Marion County.

The guide includes programming information, key deadlines, transportation, fees and academic data gathered from all 11 public school districts, public charter schools, non-public schools and the Indiana Department of Education to help parents select the right fit for their children.

This is the second year for the School Chooser. Last year, 15,000 guides were picked up across the city. The guide was also accessed hundreds of times online.
