Authorities in Essex County, Massachusetts have arrested a 14-year-old boy and plan to charge him with the murder of a high school teacher.

Initially, Danvers Police were investigating a missing person's report after the 14-year-old boy did not return home from Danvers High School Tuesday afternoon.

Late Tuesday night, Danvers Police received another report that a teacher from the school, 24-year-old Colleen Ritzer, was missing.

Police searched the school and discovered blood in a bathroom. They found her body in woods near the school. Just after midnight, police found the 14-year-old walking along a road and took him into custody.

"Danvers Police initiated a search for the teacher and discovered blood in the second floor bathroom at Danvers High School. The school was immediately secured," said Jonathan Blodgett, district attorney for Essex County. "As a result of the joint investigation of the Massachusetts State Police, Danvers and Topsfield police, the body of Colleen Ritzer, 24, of Andover, was located in the woods near Danvers High School. It was apparent that she was a homicide victim. We have no reason to believe there are any other suspects involved. The juvenile suspect is expected to be arraigned today in Salem Juvenile court on the charge of murder."

All public schools in Danvers are closed Wednesday.

The suspect's name was not released because of his age. Police gave no motive for the murder.
