Republican activists are lobbying delegates ahead of some decisive votes on gay marriage at the Republican Party convention in Fort Wayne this weekend.

At issue is whether the party platform will support marriage being between one man and one woman. Supporters and opponents of the proposal have been flooding delegates to the convention with mailers, phone calls and other communications as part of the battle.

The first test will come Friday afternoon during the meeting of the party's resolutions committee. The 10 delegates on the panel will decide whether to keep the language in the platform.

Terre Haute attorney Jim Bopp said Thursday he is confident the language will stay in the platform. However, opponents of the language have been organizing volunteers to win delegate support.
