Marc Anthony reminds people he's American

As Marc Anthony put it, he's as much of a New Yorker as a person can be. That was a fact that slipped past some people like a 100 mile-per-hour fastball when they saw him perform "God Bless America" at the major league baseball All-Star Game this past Tuesday.

Some Internet posters complained about a foreigner singing the song. Anthony addressed the issue on "Live With Kelly and Michael" yesterday, telling the ABC show he was born and raised in the Big Apple and is proud of his Puerto Rican heritage.

Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory. It isn't the first time a Latino has come under fire for performing a patriotic song recently. During the NBA Finals last month, a young Latino born in Texas took flak from some online commenters for performing the national anthem.
