Metro homicide investigators are looking into the death of a man and woman found in a motel room at the Royal Inn off 38th and High School Road.

The call came into dispatch around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night. Officers found the man and woman in the room, and medics pronounced them dead.

IMPD spokesman Kendale Adams said housekeepers discovered the bodies. "They actually checked on these individuals at 12 and then a little later at five," Adams said, "and then housekeepers actually came in and said they thought something wasn't right, and that's when they called us."

The victims have been identified as 23-year-old Michael Gilbert and 24-year-old Elizabeth Hagedorn, both of Indianapolis.

Investigators are currently working to determine what caused of the two deaths.  Both appeared to be shot.

Adams said bullet casings were found at the scene, "But we don't know if they came from a self-inflicted gun wound or some suspect."

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine more details of how and when the two may have died.
