Police are searching for a robbery suspect who had a change of heart last week.

Investigators say a male suspect walked up to the counter of the Village Pantry in the 3300 block of West Michigan Street last Thursday and demanded money.

The clerk at the store told police the suspect said, "Open the register, it's just not worth it." When she turned to walk into the store's office, the suspect left without any money. No weapon was seen, but police say the suspect implied he was armed during the incident.

The suspect was wearing aviator-style sunglasses, a dark brown Carhartt jacket over a black hoodie, dark blue jeans and dark tennis shoes with white stripes on the side.

No one was injured during the robbery attempt.

Anyone with information about the suspect can call an IMPD detective directly at 327-3733. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS, (800) 222-TIPS or submit a tip online at
