Man reports mugging near Purdue campus overnight

Police are investigating an assault near the Purdue University campus overnight.

A man told police he was tackled by two men in the area of Columbia and River Road while he was walking around 3:00 am. The two armed suspects took the victim's backpack. The victim was not injured.

The victim walked to his apartment and called police. A police K-9 tracked and found the victim's backpack, but his money and phone were gone.

Police were unable to locate the suspects. They say it's the second attack in the same area this week, although police aren't sure if they're connected.
