A man was fatally stabbed Sunday morning on the northwest side of the city in what police believe is a case of self defense.

IMPD officers were flagged down by a woman in the 3300 block of Guion Court around 3:30 a.m.  She said that a friend needed an ambulance.

The officers found 42-year-old William Taylor suffering from stab wounds.  He was transported to Wishard Hospital where he died from his injuries.

IMPD homicide detectives questioned Michael Grimes, 50, and other individuals who were present at the time of the stabbing. Grimes was later released based on information indicating self defense.
