Man fatally shot during west Indianapolis home invasion


A man was fatally shot during a home invasion on the near west side late Tuesday night.

Police say a man kicked down a door and entered a home in the 1800 block of North Holmes Avenue shortly before midnight Tuesday. The male suspect fired multiple shots, striking a man in the house in the leg, fatally wounding him.

The shooting suspect, who was only described as wearing a hoodie, fled the house and was gone when police arrived. It is not known if he ran or drove from the scene.

Police interviews a woman who was in the home at the time of the invasion.

The victim has only been identified as a man in his 50s.

Investigators are speaking with potential witnesses in the area.

Detectives are seeking information about the occupants of a white Dodge Neon with a black bra.
