Police are looking for a driver who fatally struck a man and took off late Sunday night.

The victim, 33-year-old Ronald Vanatta, was hit around 11:00 pm. Police say Vanatta and his fiancee were in a pickup truck heading south on Emerson. Vanatta stopped and got out of his truck. That's when he was hit by a car.

The driver didn't stop, but people in other vehicles were able to give police a description of the car.

Captain Kellen Malloy of the Beech Grove Police Department said a witness described the car as a "dark Mercury Sable wagon or Ford Taurus wagon." Malloy said the rear passenger window was broken and covered in plastic.
