Man charged with shooting boy jailed on $100K bond

BLUFFTON - A man charged with reckless homicide in the shooting death of a 4-year-old northeastern Indiana boy is being held on $100,000 bond.

The Bluffton News-Banner reported a preliminary plea of not guilty was entered for 46-year-old Bruce Pond of Ossian in Well Circuit Court on Monday. He's charged with the fatal shooting of 4-year-old Jacob Michuda of Bluffton.

Sheriff Monte Fisher has said alcohol was involved and that Pond apparently shot at a light on a pier the boy and his father were fishing from Friday night.

The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne reported Jacob would have turned 5 next month. He was the fourth Indiana child under 6 fatally shot in less than a month.

A jailer said he had no record of Pond having an attorney.
