Man charged with murder for fatally stabbing girlfriend
An Indianapolis man is facing a murder charge for fatally stabbing his girlfriend.
Andrew Reynolds, 51, was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a SWAT situation in the 2200 block of North Arlington Avenue.
Officers arrived at a home on a report of a person stabbed around 3:45 p.m. They found an unidentified female victim suffering from a stab wound to her neck. The woman was taken to Wishard Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
The victim's 14-year-old daughter told police she witnessed the attack and that Reynolds, her mother's boyfriend, was still inside the house. She said he was armed with a knife and possible a handgun.
Reynolds barricaded himself inside the home, but surrendered peacefully after negotiations with SWAT officers and the Crisis Negotiation team.
He was taken to IMPD Headquarters for questioning and was later arrested for murder. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make a final decision on what charges Reynolds may face.
An officer arriving at the scene also had to shoot a dog that was charging at him. Fearing the dog would do harm, the officer fired his service weapon, killing the dog.
