Man arrested for murder of convenience store clerk in court
22 year-old Desi Thomas, who was arrested Wednesday for the June murder of convenience store clerk Harry Briggs, appeared in court today.
Police believe he shot and killed Briggs during a June 4 robbery at Joe's Junction convenience store on West Troy Avenue, and then skipped away through the parking lot.
Thomas faces charges of murder and robbery
The prosecuting attorney said today that they could seek the toughest penalties in this case.
"It qualifies for life without parole or death penalty," said Denise Robinson, deputy prosecutor. "As you know we go through a review process. In this case we'll go through that review process."
Members of Thomas' family declined to talk outside the courtroom today.
He'll be back in court next month.
