Police have made an arrest after a SWAT situation on the east side of Indianapolis Wednesday evening.

SWAT officers entered a home in the 2800 block of North Dearborn St. around 8:30 p.m., hours after they arrived on the scene.

The situation started after someone reported shots fired near East 21st Street and North Ritter Avenue. Police got information the person who allegedly fired the shots was holed up in the home on Dearborn with an AK-47 rifle.

Officers obtained a warrant and arrested a man who was in the house. They then entered the home and say they found an AK-47 after a search.

The standoff and arrest happened on the same street corner where two people were wounded when someone fired 14 shots last week.
