Malone takes over as chief of IFD

Ernest Malone officially takes over today as Chief of the Indianapolis Fire Department.

Malone was appointed by the mayor on July 17.

A special change in command ceremony was held Monday morning at the downtown War Memorial.

Malone is replacing retiring Chief Brian Sanford who is taking on the role of Chief of Staff for the Department of Public Safety.
