Madison County jury rules for alleged school bullying victim
A central Indiana jury has ruled in favor a woman who filed a civil lawsuit alleging she was exposed to extreme bullying during high school.
The Madison Circuit Court jury found Thursday that the woman and her family should be awarded damages. The trial will conclude Tuesday with a conference on the amount they will receive.
Court documents say the woman was 15 in 2008 when she arrived at Pendleton Heights High School to find photos of her altered to be sexually suggestive posted around the school. Those photos included her phone number.
The Herald-Bulletin reports the woman and her family alleged South Madison Community School Corp. negligently handled the incident and didn't provide proper counseling.
The district denied negligence and argued that it acted with reasonable care.
