Lugar praises Mass. Sen. Brown for bipartisanship

Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Indiana)

U.S. Sen. Scott Brown is touting the endorsement of U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar, one day after Brown's Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren named the departing Lugar as an example of a Republican senator she could work with.

In a statement Tuesday, Lugar said Brown could be counted upon to "rise above partisanship and do the right thing." Lugar cited as an example Brown's vote to confirm a nuclear arms control treaty with Russia.

Asked during Monday's debate in Lowell to identify a GOP senator she could work with in a bipartisan fashion, Warren named Lugar - before being reminded that the Indiana Republican was leaving the Senate in January after losing his party's primary earlier this year.

Brown criticized Warren for not coming up with the names of any other Republicans.
