Loogootee man arrested for battery on a nine-month-old
State police arrested a Loogootee man for the battery of an infant.
Hospital personnel alerted police to the possible abuse of a nine-month-old boy in their care. The child had bleeding and swelling of his genitalia. Troopers working with Child Protective Services determined the child was battered by Arvel Griffey Jr., 24, in a car while Griffey was being taken back to the Dubois County Community Corrections Center.
Griffey was arrested at the corrections center on a felony charge of battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a person less than 14 years of age.
He is being held without bond at the Dubois County Jail.
