Little League arm health
Warm weather means baseball, and for many families that means little league.
But like any sport, little league comes with a risk of injury. The most common injury in baseball comes from damaging the shoulder.
All those swings and throws can do lasting damage to young players. Pitchers are at the most risk, but anyone can overdo it.
"I think the biggest problem with developing arms is the number of throws they are doing at the early stages of their career," said physical therapist Carl Stratman. "Not just number of throws but throwing consistently throughout the year."
So when the season is done, it's best to end practice, too. Give it a rest for at least three months so that your kid's muscles and bones have time to recover.
