Lightning suspected to be the cause of East Indianapolis house fire

Indianapolis firefighters are on the scene of a house fire that they believe may have been started by lightning.

The home is in the 3100 block of Stuart Street on the city's east side.

Firefighters on the scene tell us that the home is occupied but that no one was in the home at the time of the fire.

The call came around 6:47 a.m. and when firefighters arrived there was fire coming out of the back of the residence. They now have the fire under control.

No one was injured.

Damage is estimated at $25,000.

The cause of the fire is unknown, although fire investigators say they cannot rule out lightning strike.
